Ethiopia Yirgacheffe x Aricha Station
ABOUT THIS COFFEE
This is an exceptional Grade 1 natural / dry process Ethiopian Yirgacheffe Coffee! Ethiopian coffees from the Yirgacheffe region are revered as some of the highest quality coffees in the world, consistently scoring in the 90+ points in professional cupping competitions. Aricha washing station is about 6km outside of Yirgacheffe town and is very selective about the quality of the cherries that they allowed to be processed through their station. Aricha station was formerly known as the highly coveted Misty Valley station and sometimes called Idido. Located above 1,900 MASL with deep rich clay soil, the climate is perfect for Southern Ethiopia's landrace varieties to flourish. Despite this, Aricha station was left to decay for a number of years until Testi Coffee, the largest coffee corporation in Ethiopia took it over in 2018. Since that time, Testi has spent resources reviving this station into a modern thriving hub for the 700+ coffee farmers in the surrounding area. Testi pays a premium to the farmers who bring their cherries directly to the station, and profit shares with the local community to build schools, roads, and provide infrastructure so that farmers bring their cherries exclusively to Aricha Station.
The combination of heirloom coffee genetics, optimal terroir and expert processing at Aricha station, has produced this immaculate coffee with an optimal award winning flavor profile that perfectly represents Grade 1 Natural Process Ethiopian Coffee.
